Once Again at Twilight Time

Twilight Zone, TheWith the ground-breaking "Twilight Zone" series, Rod Serling not only brought sci-fi and fantasy to American audiences, creating a new and provocative dimension, he also pushed the limits of the television medium. For five seasons and 156 episodes, the series served as a showcase not only for Rod's writing but also as an arena for budding actors and directors. Many went from their debuts in the "Twilight Zone" series to become major contributors to film and television. The Emmy Award-winning show featured superior writing from Serling, Charles Beaumont, Earl Hamner Jr, Ray Bradbury, Harlan Ellison, Richard Matheson and others. Talented actors like Robert Redford, Burgess Meredith, Agnes Morehead, Telly Savalas, and William Shatner, just to name a few, lent a credibility to the series usually reserved for more mainstream dramas. Serling died at a very young age on June 28, 1975. He was only 50, yet he left a vast legacy behind which continues to inspire and enchant. New versions of the series aired in 1985, followed by a major motion picture, and finally a new series in 2002.
